This program is an excellent opportunity
for students with any level of acting experience. In a fun, high-energy
environment, we help students build self confidence while learning from working
professionals in the theater industry and making new friends. Each session is
similar in format and schedule, but differs enough in content to give
multiple-week and returning campers a creative challenge. All activities are
designed to provide an excellent overview of a wide variety of theater
disciplines and skills. Sign up for just one session or take advantage of
the multiple week discount.
All of our young actors will participate in a performance piece for
families and friends on the final day of each camp session in George Mason

activities. Classes will be tailored to each age group. Please indicate choices
on registration form.

ACTING FOR THE CAMERA: students
will learn or review basic on-camera acting skills using professional commercial
copy. Commercials will be recorded on Wednesday, and AFYP will provide students
with a copy of their work on DVD.
OR
PLAYWRITING: students will actively explore the
first steps in creating their own stage or screen play. Beginning ideas for
plot, dialogue and character development will be the focus of this session.
Tuesday/Thursday:
MUSICAL THEATER:
Students will work together on a group number from a famous musical. They will
work learn lyrics, melody and choreography. Great for musical theater fans, or
those who would like to give it a try in a comfortable group setting.
OR
IMPROV/THEATER
SPORTS: students
create short scenes, situations and characters, while focusing on listening,
teamwork, and “thinking on their feet”. Taking its inspiration from classic
improv, as seen on TV’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” activities will be
